Lecturer in Earth System Sciences

MPOWIR Mentoring Physical Oceanography Women to Increase Retention is seeking a highly skilled Lecturer in Earth System Sciences to join our team. As a key member of our faculty, you will be responsible for teaching environmental modeling and developing innovative Earth systems models.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and teach courses on environmental modeling and Earth system sciences
  • Conduct research in environmental and climate modeling, and develop innovative Earth systems models
  • Secure external research funding and contribute to future REF submissions
  • Contribute to the development of online and distance learning materials

Requirements:

  • PhD in Earth System Sciences or a related field
  • Experience in teaching and research in environmental and climate modeling
  • Strong research and teaching background in at least two of the following areas: environmental and/or climate modeling; development of innovative Earth systems models; development and/or application of innovative climate-sensitive proxies; environmental statistics; evolutionary biology; quantification of ecosystem services and/or natural capital
  • Commitment to the principles of equality and diversity in all aspects of teaching and research
