About the Role

Mencap is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team in Cambridge. As a Support Worker, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities.

You will be working with a diverse group of people, each with their own unique abilities and needs. Your role will involve assisting with daily activities, providing emotional support, and promoting independence.

You will be able to support them to live more comfortably, dignified, liberated, and happy lives. You may bring your creativity to the role and create activities for the people we support to learn and enjoy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily activities, such as personal care and household tasks
  • Provide emotional support and promote independence
  • Support individuals to access the community, including shopping, cinema, and leisure activities
  • Participate in planning and supporting activities outside of the house, including trips to the local shops, movies, cafes, and other community events
  • Support individuals with budget management, paying bills, and organizing appointments

  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • A positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities

Contract Options

  • Full-time: 37.5 hours
  • Part-time: flexible hours based on availability
