Position Overview

The Environmental Compliance Specialist plays a crucial role within the Environmental Oversight Team. This position serves as a subject matter expert and a knowledgeable resource for the project, focusing on issues related to noise and vibration.

The incumbent will contribute to the Environmental Surveillance Plan, ensuring adherence to compliance and best practices in environmental performance throughout the construction phase.

Key Responsibilities

The role will assist the Environmental Services Lead with:

  • Technical Leadership: Overseeing and assuring noise and vibration management arising from construction activities.
  • Permit Support: Collaborating with the Construction Environmental Permits Manager to provide guidance and review environmental permits, licenses, and consents related to noise and vibration.

This position requires effective communication with the Environment Agency, local authorities, and various stakeholders, including contractors and project teams, to establish processes for compliance management during site activities.

Compliance and Technical Guidance

The Environmental Compliance Specialist will:

  • Lead technical evaluations of environmental permit applications.
  • Conduct targeted inspections of site activities to ensure environmental performance standards are met.
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders, including external regulators, to ensure high-quality and compliant project execution.
  • Facilitate discussions with relevant stakeholders regarding noise and vibration issues.
  • Contribute technical expertise to the Environmental Surveillance Plan concerning noise and vibration.
  • Provide educational resources on noise and vibration management to both internal teams and external partners.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Extensive experience in measuring and assessing noise and vibration impacts from various sources.
  • The ability to work autonomously while being an integral part of the Environmental Oversight Team.
  • A meticulous approach with a focus on project completion.
  • Experience managing noise and vibration in large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of relevant environmental management practices, including pollution control and incident response.
