Key Responsibilities

Media Relations

  • Establish and maintain productive relationships with relevant media outlets and external stakeholders.
  • Respond to media inquiries and produce proactive press releases, stakeholder briefings, and other written materials.
  • Promote the Trust's initiatives through the development of positive news stories and promotional opportunities, including arranging interviews and photo sessions.
  • Collaborate closely with Care Groups to provide guidance and support for their communication efforts.
  • Monitor media coverage and maintain a comprehensive media inquiry database.

Website and Intranet Management

  • Contribute to the maintenance of the Trust's website and intranet, ensuring accurate and timely information is available for staff, members, and the public.
  • Ensure all communications, particularly those that may be complex or sensitive, are handled in a responsive and inclusive manner, focusing on improvement and progress.
  • Tailor communications to suit various audiences, considering factors such as understanding, cultural context, and potential barriers.
  • Maximize the use of online and social media platforms where appropriate.
  • Identify opportunities for positive public relations initiatives.

Public Information Campaigns

  • Support the execution of public information campaigns related to public health and organizational priorities, including developing campaign strategies, conducting stakeholder insights, and collaborating with external partners.
  • Maintain a photo library and shared resources for effective project delivery.

Graphic Design

  • Create and develop graphic design solutions for the Trust, including patient information materials, promotional literature, presentations, and corporate publications.
  • Produce high-quality outputs across both print and digital formats, providing creative support and solutions to design briefs.
  • Coordinate with external design agencies and printers to ensure timely production and distribution of corporate materials.
  • Administer version control and maintain necessary documentation, brand/style guides, and layout standards.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in effective communication across diverse internal and external audiences.
  • Experience in graphic design or a related field.

Desirable

  • Recognized qualification in public relations or journalism, or substantial experience in media relations.
  • Understanding of NHS and governmental policies and the ability to leverage communication to influence and implement these policies.
  • Experience in planning and executing public information communication campaigns.

Skills

Essential

  • Ability to analyze and synthesize complex information and present it clearly in both verbal and written formats.
  • Capability to understand and respond to stakeholder needs, identifying appropriate service developments.
  • Strong presentation skills in various settings and at different levels.

Desirable

  • Experience in organizing meetings and conferences involving internal and external participants.
  • Understanding of NHS and Trust structures, as well as DoH brand guidelines.
  • Familiarity with the Accessible Information Standard.
