Overview

The primary purpose of this role is to deliver expert Risk and Value Management (R&VM) assurance and support services within the NW&C Passenger Function. The aim is to cultivate and integrate a robust R&VM culture across teams while enhancing R&VM maturity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Offer leadership and direction in the principles of R&VM, ensuring their effective application across all operational areas.
  • Oversee the Passenger BAC process, coordinating with the central GRAI team.
  • Execute Level 1 & 2 Assurance activities as directed by the Head of Strategic Planning & Controls.
  • Manage and deliver specialized R&VM support services based on the function's R&VM maturity.
  • Engage proactively with passenger teams to integrate the risk management process and facilitate ERR workshop activities.
  • Supervise the outputs of team members involved in R&VM activities to ensure competence, consistency, and adherence to Network Rail procedures, providing assurance through the risk champion working group and other channels.
  • Conduct horizon scanning to identify potential risks and impacts affecting the function.
  • Provide leadership and advice on suitable levels of risk mitigation and escalation.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the required R&VM services and ensure that qualified and experienced resources are available to meet these needs.
  • Drive the adoption of the ER&VM framework within the designated area.

Essential Qualifications

  • Proficient in all facets of program and business risk management facilitation.
  • Capable of constructing complex cost, schedule, and business risk models using various applications.
  • Recognized as a 'Specialist' in Leadership Competencies or capable of achieving this status within a specified timeframe.
  • Proven experience in risk management and assurance activities.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Membership in the Institute of Risk Management or the Association for Project Management Risk Practitioner.
  • Familiarity with Network Rail's project management processes and procedures.
