Position Overview
The SW Thames Renal and Transplantation unit stands as one of the foremost renal facilities in the nation, actively pursuing integration with St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to enhance the care pathways for our patient demographics.
We are in search of a motivated and skilled Band 6 Dietitian to become a vital member of our team of seven renal Dietitians on a full-time, permanent basis. Key Responsibilities
- Deliver specialist, evidence-based Dietetic renal nutrition services to patients with Low Clearance, Nephrology, Haemodialysis, Peritoneal Dialysis, and Transplantation.
- Provide expert guidance to patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals regarding nutritional support for renal patients, grounded in clinical evidence. This includes nutritional assessment, treatment plan development, and dietary treatment prescription.
- Offer complex renal nutrition counseling, employing reassurance and motivational techniques to address barriers to compliance.
- Mentor and support junior members of the renal team and student Dietitians in their professional growth.
- Educate members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure effective utilization of nutritional screening tools.
- Utilize advanced communication and teaching skills to convey essential, complex renal advice to a diverse and multicultural renal population, both individually and in group settings.
- Make informed clinical decisions regarding the safe administration of enteral or parenteral nutrition to patients, or provide recommendations for alternative nutritional support.
- Assist in the renal merger with St George's as part of the new hospital development.
