Key Responsibilities

We are seeking a skilled Construction Estimator to join our team at CV Library. As a key member of our commercial team, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for construction projects, developing project budgets and cost plans, and ensuring that payments to contractors are fair and in accordance with contract terms.

Key Tasks
  1. Cost Estimation and Budgeting: Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, taking into account materials, labour, and other relevant factors. Develop and maintain project budgets and cost plans to ensure accurate forecasting and control.
  2. Tendering and Procurement: Assist in the tendering process by preparing tender documents, analysing bids, and recommending suitable contractors and suppliers. Participate in negotiations and contract awards to ensure the best possible outcomes for the company.
  3. Measurement and Valuation: Measure and quantify materials and labour required for construction projects. Prepare interim valuations, progress reports, and final accounts to ensure accurate tracking of project costs and progress.
  4. Cost Control and Monitoring: Monitor project costs against budgets and forecasts, identifying and addressing any variances or discrepancies. Maintain accurate records of project expenditures and commitments to ensure transparency and accountability.
  5. Risk Management: Identify and assess potential risks that may affect project costs or schedules, developing strategies to mitigate risks and minimize their impact on the project.
  6. Contract Administration: Administer construction contracts, including interpreting contract terms, resolving disputes, and issuing contractual notices as necessary. Ensure that all contractual obligations are met and that the company's interests are protected.
  7. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure effective coordination and communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  8. Value Engineering: Evaluate alternative construction methods, materials, and designs to optimize value and efficiency without compromising quality or performance.
  9. Quality Assurance and Compliance: Ensure that construction works meet quality standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements. Conduct regular inspections and audits to verify compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations.
  10. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate project records, including contracts, drawings, specifications, and correspondence. Prepare regular progress reports, financial forecasts, and other documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  11. Professional Development: Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to quantity surveying and construction management. Pursue professional development opportunities such as training, certifications, and memberships in relevant organizations.
