Senior Support Worker

About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Senior Support Worker to join our team at Solent NHS Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to individuals with acquired brain injuries.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively promote recovery-focussed care with patients, working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to achieve set goals.
- Support patients with their rehabilitation and recovery, respecting their individual needs and rights.
- Facilitate and lead patient-focus groups and activities, promoting social interaction and engagement.
- Use approved conflict resolution and management of aggression techniques to de-escalate challenging situations.
- Accurately assess, describe, and record observations on patient progress or change in mental and physical state.
- Undertake clinical and environmental risk assessments, documenting key risk areas and seeking guidance from senior staff when necessary.
- Report incidents accurately, objectively, and concisely via our reporting system.
- Escort patients to other hospitals or care settings as required.
- Ensure each patient receives a high standard of care, privacy, and dignity relating to their personal hygiene and appearance.
- Support senior staff in producing written reports on assessments, interventions, and patient closure.
- Attend and contribute to team and client meetings, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records on patient progress.

Person Specification
- GCSE in Maths and English or equivalent.
- NVQ or healthcare qualification at level 3.
- Experience in working in a healthcare setting.
- Experience of working in an environment where clients demonstrate challenging behaviour.
- Able to undertake and pass Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA) training as required for the role.
