Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, United Kingdom National Grid Full time

Position Overview

We are seeking a proactive and skilled Lead Business Insights Analyst to drive our initiatives in reforming the energy landscape. This role is pivotal in ensuring energy security, addressing climate challenges, and safeguarding our communities.

As a Lead Business Insights Analyst, you will be responsible for conducting thorough analyses and shaping the requirements for our innovative projects. These initiatives are designed to achieve strategic business objectives and facilitate the transition to the National Energy System Operator (NESO) and a sustainable electricity framework. Depending on the scale of the project, you may operate independently or collaborate within a team setting.

In this capacity, you will apply Agile DevSecOps methodologies to gather and articulate requirements, emphasizing a customer-focused approach to meet desired business outcomes. Close collaboration with strategic and lead business analysts will ensure that project scopes are consistently upheld throughout the delivery process, leading to the realization of intended results.

Moreover, you will engage with the broader delivery team to advocate for Agile DevSecOps practices and nurture a culture of continuous enhancement in the team's agile delivery methods.

While this position may not involve direct line management responsibilities, fostering positive relationships and effective communication is essential for success in this role.

This opportunity allows you to contribute significantly to a forward-thinking organization aspiring to be a digital frontrunner in the energy sector. You will play a crucial role in the evolution of NESO, aiding the UK's transition to a low-carbon energy future.

Key Responsibilities

Alignment with Business Objectives:

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of NESO and its strategic priorities, translating these into actionable project outputs.
  • Utilize business modeling techniques to analyze the business environment and stakeholder perspectives, assessing how processes, systems, data, and personnel interact and the implications of change.
  • Identify avenues for enhancing business performance through process optimization and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Collect and analyze data to generate insights that facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Implement benefits management strategies to ensure measurable and trackable outcomes post-delivery.

Requirements Definition and Management:

  • Comprehensively assess the situation or change, employing suitable techniques and diagrams to communicate findings to project and business stakeholders.
  • Conduct user research to uncover user needs and end-to-end journeys that must be addressed in development.
  • Articulate User Stories that are clear to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, incorporating non-functional requirements and acceptance criteria in an appropriate format.
  • Create supporting documentation and diagrams to enhance User Stories as necessary.
  • Refine User Stories through Agile ceremonies and collaboration, utilizing negotiation skills to achieve desired outcomes effectively.
  • Manage the project backlog of User Stories, working closely with the Product Owner/Manager to define Features and Epics.

Collaboration Standards:

  • Build and maintain trusting relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the growth of the Business Analyst Community of Practice by sharing knowledge and expertise.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, collaborating with team members to implement recommended improvements.
  • Support testing efforts by reviewing test scenarios and scripts to ensure comprehensive coverage of requirements.

Candidate Profile

Successful candidates will demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Proactive initiative and the ability to act independently.
  • Customer-centric mindset with strong communication skills, adaptable to a dynamic environment.
  • Extensive experience in business analysis, including problem identification, root cause analysis, stakeholder engagement, and solution evaluation.
  • Proven ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders to align vision and objectives.
  • Strong proficiency in utilizing appropriate tools and techniques for analysis and design.
  • Solid understanding of Digital Delivery and Agile DevSecOps principles, with demonstrable experience in their application.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst in an IT/Digital context.
  • At least 2 years of experience in an Agile delivery environment.
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in digital, data, or technology-related fields is preferred.
  • Security clearance may be required, necessitating a background check and ongoing maintenance of clearance.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in the utility sector or regulated organizations.
  • Familiarity with application lifecycle management tools.
  • Experience in wireframe creation using relevant tools.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience and capabilities, along with a performance-based bonus structure. Our benefits package includes 26 days of annual leave, a robust pension scheme with a generous company match, and a variety of well-being and professional development resources. We prioritize work-life balance and support our employees in achieving their personal and professional goals.
