Job Title: Digital Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Digital Technician to join our team at MidKent College. As a Digital Technician, you will be responsible for organizing and running IT Workshops and Lab Sessions, ensuring that students have access to the required equipment to undertake computer installation and maintenance activities.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Liaise with staff and management to ensure smooth operation of IT Workshops and Lab Sessions.
  • Liaise with employers and stakeholders to identify training needs and develop effective solutions.
  • Ensure that students have access to the required equipment and resources to complete computer installation and maintenance activities.
  • Deal with any hardware or technical issues that may arise during IT Workshops and Lab Sessions.
  • Guide and support students to safely undertake computer installation and maintenance activities.
  • Comply with Health and Safety regulations and ensure that the environment is safe for students and staff to work in.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Complete mandatory annual Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in accordance with the number of hours set for the Department.
  • Travel between sites as and when required in accordance with the job role.
  • Be available to work evenings and weekends to meet the needs of the service.
  • Comply with and understand all aspects of legislation and College policies and processes relating to safeguarding, including promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
  • Form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people.
  • Comply with, understand, and promote statutory and college best practice in Health & Safety at a level relevant to the role and responsibilities held by the post holder.

  • Acquire or have access to confidential information which should not be disclosed to any other person unless in pursuit of duties in compliance with GDPR or with specific permission given on behalf of the College.
  • Take responsibility for personal learning and development, reviewing and reflecting on performance within the current role.
  • Promote, adhere to, understand, and put into practice all College policies and procedures.

  • Attend and complete all mandatory training sessions or online computer-based training packages as required by the College.
  • Undertake any other duties consistent with the key responsibilities and/or duties of this role as directed by the manager.
