We are seeking a highly skilled Acoustical Research Specialist to join our team at NPL, a world-leading organization in the field of metrology. As an Acoustical Research Specialist, you will be part of our Ultrasound and Underwater Acoustics Group, working on cutting-edge research and development projects.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in physics, acoustics, or a related discipline, with a graduate qualification and/or industry or academic experience. You will be expected to acquire new knowledge and skills to advance our research, requiring a careful and methodical approach, as well as attention to detail.
As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on a range of exciting projects, including:
- Developing improved techniques for underwater acoustic measurement and calibration using our specialized laboratory facilities
- Developing experimental techniques for acoustic measurement for delivery to customers and collaborators
- Delivering NPL's scientific work, including the delivery of measurement services and contributing to research and development projects
- Contributing to scientific outputs through journal publications and scientific conferences
In addition to your technical expertise, you will also be expected to:
- Share your knowledge and experience with colleagues to support their development and growth
- Develop partnerships to strengthen our capability and deliver impact
- Act as an ambassador for our work externally, promoting our research and achievements
- Provide technical support for bids and proposals
