About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Specialist Registrar to join our esteemed Foot and Ankle Unit within the Orthopaedic Team at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and manage patients with foot and ankle pathology in a clinic setting, providing high-quality care and support.
  • Care for patients on the ward, undertaking surgical procedures on patients with foot and ankle pathology, working closely with consultants and other healthcare professionals.
  • Contribute to the middle grade on-call rota, providing support and expertise as needed.

Person Specification:

  • Qualifications:
    • Higher professional training in Trauma & Orthopaedics
    • Full GMC registration with license to practice
  • Experience:
    • Foot & Ankle experience at Specialist Registrar level or alternative
  • Clinical Skills:
    • Demonstrable experience of Foot & Ankle surgery
    • Understanding of clinical risk management
  • Desirable:
    • FRCS T&O
    • IT skills
    • Breadth of experience in and outside speciality
    • Effective, confident presentation ability
  • Other:
    • Understanding the principles of research and demonstrating research experience
    • Evidence in participation of audit
    • Good oral and written communication skills
    • Publications
    • Prizes and honours
    • Logical thinking, problem solving and decision making
    • Probity
    • Ability to organise oneself and prioritise clinical need
