About the Role:

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Manage the payroll process, including line management responsibility for payroll administrators.
  • Oversee the calculation and balancing of all payrolls, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Implement pay increases in line with annual salary reviews, ensuring fairness and equity.
  • Ensure timely submission of FPS, EPS, and P46 forms to HMRC, avoiding penalties and fines.
  • Develop and maintain all pay items in the payroll system, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Manage National Minimum Wage and Gender Pay Reporting requirements, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
  • Handle complex payroll-related enquiries, providing expert advice and guidance.
  • Manage salary sacrifice schemes, ensuring compliance and fairness.
  • Ensure all payroll records are GDPR compliant, protecting sensitive employee data.
  • Lead on payroll audit information, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Develop and maintain effective governance of payroll activities, ensuring robust processes and procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date with government legislation relating to PAYE, NI, pensions, and pension schemes, providing expert advice and guidance.
  • Develop and maintain new payroll reports on an ad-hoc basis, providing valuable insights and analysis.
  • Work closely with the finance team to ensure accurate payroll costing and implementation of new payroll processes.

**Qualifications and Skills:**

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to work with all levels of the organization.
  • Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven experience in a lead payroll role, with a strong understanding of payroll processes and procedures.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, with the ability to analyze and interpret complex data.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to work with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively, work to tight deadlines, and handle confidential information with integrity.
  • High levels of accuracy, attention to detail, and a high level of accountability.
  • Preferably experience with system implementation and improvement, with a strong understanding of payroll technology.
