Position Overview

Page Executive is seeking a highly skilled Senior Carbon and Power Trading Executive to join a prominent European Corporate & Investment Bank.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Engaging in Carbon and Power trading activities, leveraging extensive experience in the field.
  • Demonstrating a profound understanding of the Emissions Trading Schemes in the EU and UK, specifically the EU ETS and UK ETS.
  • Conducting preliminary assessments on various carbon initiatives to evaluate their viability and collaborating with the Sustainability team to select appropriate projects.
  • Exhibiting a strong commercial acumen and exceptional communication skills.
  • Joining the Commodities trading desk as a senior trader, focusing on Carbon and Power markets.
Daily Tasks

Your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Structuring, pricing, trading, and managing positions on Carbon and Power contracts, both physical and financial, to enhance the bank's core client relationships in a risk-managed, capital-efficient manner.
  • Effectively market-making, managing risk, and keeping senior management informed of current risk positions.
  • Staying updated with the regulations governing Carbon and Power markets and exchanges.
  • Collaborating with the Head of Commodity Trading to devise optimal trading strategies for carbon and power assets.
  • Building and nurturing strong relationships with trading counterparties.
Market Analysis and Reporting

In this role, you will:

  • Monitor prevailing market conditions and competitor pricing.
  • Regularly assess and mark the trading books, ensuring the availability of market data across the Commodity platform.
  • Reconcile and verify the accuracy of Risk and Profit & Loss figures on a daily basis.
  • Maintain trading books within all stipulated risk limits.
Collaboration and Coordination

Additionally, you will:

  • Coordinate with support units, particularly IT, to establish new instruments and tools within various trading systems.
  • Work alongside the operations team to facilitate the settlement and delivery of financial and physical carbon and power contracts.
  • Actively promote the Carbon and Power trading franchise in collaboration with Sales teams.
  • Assist in the automation and digitization of the Carbon and Power business, overseeing projects and monitoring performance against set objectives.
