The post holder will have the requisite knowledge and skills to work independently with a range of medical devices, including complex and non-complex electrical medical equipment, including service checks, PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) checks, safety checks, and calibration of such equipment. They will also have the knowledge to differentiate between technical and clinical problems and have the autonomy to deal with issues within the remit of the post but refer more complex problems to suitably qualified colleagues.
Main Duties of the JobThe post holder will be responsible for planning and organizing the calibration of the department's test equipment used on complex and non-complex medical test equipment, including gas test measurement appliances. They will also be expected to carry out their duties within the workshop environment and in clinical environments, such as hospital wards, theatres, and critical care areas.
The post holder will also be responsible for servicing, repairing, and training end-users in the use of medical gas and suction equipment and some complex and non-complex electro-medical devices. They will be based at Morriston Hospital, where the major part of the duties will be delivered, but will be expected to work in other parts of the Health Board as required.

Detailed Job Description and Main ResponsibilitiesThe post holder will be expected to plan and organize Planned Preventative Maintenance activity on a wide range of complex and non-complex medical equipment, including associated medical gas equipment. They will be responsible for carrying out servicing and repairs of more complex medical equipment, such as defibrillators, multi-parameter monitoring equipment, endoscopic equipment, volumetric and syringe pump configuration, and end-user training on a number of more complex medical equipment groups.
The post holder will also be responsible for managing the ordering of stock associated with their allocated complex and general medical equipment. They will provide senior MEMS management with advice on the upgrading and replacement of all medical gas equipment and general electrical medical equipment within the remit of the post.
The post holder will be responsible for data entry and accuracy for all records for technical servicing, repair, commissioning, calibration, and disposal on a defined group of complex and non-complex electro-medical equipment. Clinical duties include work with and support clinical staff, patients, and carers with issues relating to medical gas/vacuum and complex and non-complex electro-medical equipment, offering advice within the scope of the post.
Professional duties include working according to Health Board and Departmental policies and procedures, actively contributing to the department's ISO 9001 Quality System, participating fully in the directorate's CPD program, and attending all necessary manufacturers' training courses and other relevant associated courses, conferences, and seminars.
