About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Procurement Policy Manager to join our team at NHS Shared Business Services. As a key member of our procurement team, you will play a crucial role in shaping our procurement strategy and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of new procurement regulations and policies, ensuring seamless integration with our existing processes.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant laws, regulations, and industry developments, providing expert advice to stakeholders.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to enhance the skills of our procurement team, focusing on tendering practices, spend controls, and procurement strategies.
  • Collaborate with our legal team to develop and implement a rolling program of legal training, ensuring our colleagues remain current on legislation and emerging case law.
  • Design and deliver training initiatives focused on procurement best practices, with a specific emphasis on Cabinet Office spend controls and NHS procurement guidelines.

Requirements

  • Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) qualification or equivalent.
  • Project management experience or qualifications.
  • Established networks across the public sector, including policy teams in government and the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC).
  • Detailed knowledge of public sector procurement policy and legislation, including the Public Contract Regulations and the New Procurement Act.
  • Experience working in a public sector procurement team and delivering training and speaking to large audiences.
  • Track record of meeting urgent requirements while handling conflicting pressures and delivering a flexible and adaptable service.
