Your new organisation is seeking a skilled AWS Platform/DevOps Engineer to join their team on a 6-month contract. This role will be predominantly remote with occasional on-site presence required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Product Teams to ensure best practices for developing, testing, deploying, and supporting products on AWS.
  • Design, build, and support services for software delivery in the organisation, focusing on the AWS Platform.
  • Develop, build, and support people to use libraries (usually CDK constructs) and vended services that wrap and present platform features.
  • Improve security of Lambda functions.
  • Deprecate on-prem products in favour of cloud-based alternatives (Imperva WAF, RabbitMQ, Postgres, ElasticSearch, InfluxDB, Jenkins).
  • Ensure the platform meets the organisation's governance and security requirements.
  • Support the organisation's core platforms (container platform, monitoring, telemetry).
  • Create and maintain appropriate documentation, including technical options assessments to communicate the technical vision of the product to the team and wider stakeholders.
  • Champion ideas/changes/designs beneficial to the team and organisation, influencing peers and key stakeholders as appropriate.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need the following skills:

  • Containerisation technologies.
  • CI/CD methodology and tooling for containerisation and AWS.
  • Infrastructure as Code principles.
  • Networking fundamentals.
  • Designing and building platforms in AWS.
  • Observability and Telemetry.
  • Security tooling and practices.

The following skills are desirable:

  • Python, Bash, Groovy.
  • Jenkins and Ansible.
  • OpenShift, Kubernetes, ECS, Fargate.
  • AWSLinux, RHeL, Ubuntu.
  • Git, Artifactory, ElasticSearch, OpenSearch, Jenkins, Kibana, Grafana.
