About the Role

Hays' client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Engineer to join their team on a 6-month contract. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a leading organisation and contribute to the development of their cloud infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Product Teams to ensure best practices for developing, testing, deploying, and supporting products on AWS.
  • Design, build, and support services for software delivery in the organisation, focusing on the AWS Platform.
  • Develop, build, and support people to use libraries (usually CDK constructs) and vended services that wrap and present platform features.
  • Improve security of Lambda functions.
  • Deprecate on-prem products in favour of cloud-based alternatives (Imperva WAF, RabbitMQ, Postgres, ElasticSearch, InfluxDB, Jenkins).
  • Ensure the platform meets the organisation's governance and security requirements.
  • Support the organisation's core platforms (container platform, monitoring, telemetry).
  • Create and maintain appropriate documentation, including technical options assessments that can be effectively used to communicate to the team and wider stakeholders the technical vision of the product.
  • Champion ideas/changes/designs that you and/or the team believe are beneficial, influencing peers and key stakeholders as appropriate.
