Position Overview:
The Commonwealth of Virginia is committed to providing quality education and training in the field of Emergency Medical Services. We are pleased to offer a part-time position for an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Teaching Assistant. This role is essential in supporting EMS Faculty during Practical Skills Sessions, ensuring that students receive comprehensive training in a hands-on environment.

As an EMS Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the delivery and assessment of critical EMS skills within a laboratory environment.
  • Helping with the organization and dismantling of practical skills stations.
  • Monitoring and documenting student performance across various competencies.
The courses you may assist with include AHA/BLS, EMT, Advanced EMT, Paramedic, and RN to Paramedic. Flexibility to work at various campus locations or off-site venues is required, with a preference for weekend availability.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Proven expertise in executing EMS skills.
  • Several years of recent experience in EMS-related roles and instructional positions.
  • Valid Virginia State and National EMT/Paramedic registration.
  • Completion of a background check prior to employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • State EMS Education Coordinator certification.
  • Instructor certifications in AHA/BLS, AHA/ACLS, AHA/PALS, PHTLS, EPC, and AMLS.
