Job Title: Machine Shop Team Leader

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Machine Shop Team Leader to lead our team in the manufacture of small batch, special, and prototype items. The successful candidate will have a strong background in CNC machining and team leadership, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead the machine shop team to achieve maximum utilisation and efficiency
  • Program, set, and operate Manual and CNC Mills and Lathes
  • Operate manual lathes and mills and train others on their use
  • Create work packages using the ERP system and monitor progress
  • Carry out Daily Start-Up Meetings and allocate tasks to the team
  • Monitor and report on team performance and implement improvements
  • Carry out staff appraisals and reviews
  • Ensure the workforce has the appropriate skill sets through training and development
  • Implement best practices to improve production throughput, capacity, quality, and reliability

Requirements:

  • Experience in the manufacture of machined components in a small batch or prototype environment
  • Leadership experience and effective communication skills
  • Ability to understand exploded drawings and adhere to written work instructions and route cards
  • Good knowledge of modern manufacturing methods and exposure to LEAN manufacturing techniques
