Job Title: Machine Shop Team Leader

At New Appointment Group, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Machine Shop Team Leader to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for leading a team of CNC setters and operators to manufacture small batch, special, and prototype items.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Lead by example and provide guidance to the machine shop team to ensure maximum utilization of resources.
  • Program, set, and operate manual and CNC mills and lathes, and act as a mentor and trainer on their use.
  • Create work packages using the ERP system and monitor progress through the shop.
  • Carry out daily start-up meetings and allocate and manage tasks assigned to the team to meet the requirements of the plan.
  • Monitor and report on the performance of the team and measure relevant metrics to support KPIs.
  • Carry out staff appraisals and reviews, and ensure the workforce has the necessary skill sets through training and development.
  • Implement best practices to improve production throughput, capacity, quality, and reliability, and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
Requirements:
  • Experience in the manufacture of machined components in a small batch or prototype environment.
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to communicate effectively with the team.
  • Knowledge of modern manufacturing methods and exposure to LEAN manufacturing techniques.
  • Familiarity with implementing continuous improvement practices.
