Job Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to work in the fast-paced Healthcare and Nursing (H&N) directorates based within the Surgery and Anaesthetic Division, supporting the Operational Management Teams.

The primary duties of the post holder are to support the performance management of Cancer and Referral to Treatment (RTT) targets, clinic and theatre scheduling and utilization, along with rota management.

The Assistant Deputy Directorate Manager will work closely with the Deputy Directorate Manager and Directorate Manager and wider directorate team to ensure that essential staffing provision is provided for the service, raising any concerns to the senior management team.

This will involve close working with both clinicians and administrative staff.

This role will also support the tracking, data analysis, and validation of key performance indicators for the service, including DM01, Cancer, and RTT.

The post holder will play an integral part in the development of continued improvement programs, supporting the delivery of safe, personal, and effective care of services within surgery and anaesthetics.

This will include supporting the development of policies, procedures, and monitoring tools for key projects.

Main Duties of the Job
  • Take a lead with support from the Directorate Manager in ensuring adequate medical cover is in place for the service.
  • Take the lead on behalf of the directorate in administrative service improvement.
  • Support clinicians within the directorate to develop and drive forward strategic and operational initiatives.
  • Responsibility for the management and provision of rota.
  • Develop and implement a range of policies and procedures to embed agreed service change and provide regular review of the effectiveness of these.
  • Ensure budgets for the administration service are managed in line with standing financial instructions, raising any concerns or issues to the management team.
  • Responsible for implementing any changes to policies or procedures for the administration.
  • Producing detailed reports/analysis for the management team and trust senior team, ensuring quality and accuracy is maintained.
  • To provide cover within the Directorate Management team, including representing the trust in key external meetings with stakeholders.
