Key Responsibilities- Work collaboratively with the orthopedic surgeons and nursing teams to deliver exceptional patient care.
- Act as a first or second assistant in specialist orthopedic surgery, utilizing advanced skills and expert knowledge.
- Liaise with the orthopedic nursing team and other professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
- Prescribe medications using expertise and evidence-based practice, once Non-Medical Prescribing qualification is attained.
- Prepare discharge letters, prescriptions, and post-operative advice for elective surgery.
- Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of theatre discipline and the roles and responsibilities of all members of the theatre team.
- Audit own and others' practice to ensure high standards of care.
- Contribute to service development in the specialist field of orthopedic surgery.
- Provide specialist education and training to nursing and junior medical staff.
- Essential criteria:
- Qualification: Degree or relevant experience
- Registered Nurse / ODP
- Surgical Care Practitioner Course
- Desirable criteria:
- Theatre experience
- Orthopedic experience
- SFA skills
- Non-medical prescribing
- Clinical skills
