We are seeking a skilled Construction Cost Analyst to join a well-respected and established medium-sized contractor.

Our organization has a proven history of executing high-quality construction projects across diverse sectors such as commercial, educational, industrial, and recreational, earning a strong reputation for excellence in the industry.

Role Summary

This position is office-based and involves working closely with the management team.

The Construction Cost Analyst will be integral to the pre-construction phase, focusing on both new construction and renovation projects valued between £1,000,000 and £8,000,000. The successful candidate will report directly to the Directors and will be pivotal in ensuring the company's success by delivering precise and comprehensive cost estimates for upcoming projects.

Key Responsibilities

The Construction Cost Analyst will be responsible for:

  • Creating detailed cost estimates for new and refurbishment projects across various sectors including commercial, educational, industrial, and recreational.
  • Overseeing pre-qualification processes, quality assurance, and bid submissions.
  • Collaborating with the bidding team to formulate competitive and persuasive tender submissions.
  • Conducting thorough cost analyses to ensure the accuracy and completeness of estimates.
  • Engaging with suppliers and subcontractors to foster strong relationships and secure competitive pricing while negotiating favorable terms.
  • Identifying and evaluating potential risks associated with construction projects, proposing effective risk mitigation strategies.
  • Maintaining organized and comprehensive records of all estimating activities.
  • Identifying opportunities to enhance value throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Working closely with the Senior Estimator and other key stakeholders to ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Providing support to junior members of the estimating, surveying, and pre-construction teams.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A relevant degree or equivalent qualification in construction management, quantity surveying, or a related discipline is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Extensive knowledge of construction processes, materials, and industry best practices.
  • Experience in pricing projects through both single and two-stage tenders as well as negotiated contracts.
  • Proficiency in relevant estimating software and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate and explain estimates to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • A proven track record of successfully delivering competitive tenders.
  • Experience in quantity take-offs is essential.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
