About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our Schistosomiasis Research Group at the National History Museum. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to conduct cutting-edge research focused on the genomic surveillance of schistosomiasis in Zanzibar, with the aim of identifying genetic signatures of resistance to praziquantel within parasite populations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct genomic surveillance of schistosomiasis in Zanzibar, including fieldwork, wet lab work, and bioinformatics
  • Develop and implement new methodologies for genomic analysis and data interpretation
  • Collaborate with internal and external project team members to achieve project goals
  • Present research findings at international conferences and publish in top-tier scientific journals
Requirements
  • PhD in a relevant field (e.g. genetics, genomics, bioinformatics)
  • Excellent genomic wet lab and bioinformatic skills
  • Experience working with microscopic organisms and complex genomes
  • Proven ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and communicate effectively with colleagues
  • Ability to work under pressure to deliver project outputs in line with project timelines
