Chief Scientific Adviser (National Security)

MI5 is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Scientific Adviser to lead our National Security Science team. As a key member of our organization, you will provide strategic advice on science and technology to support our national security mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide scientific and technical advice to MI5 leadership on national security matters.
  2. Lead the development of science and technology strategies to support our national security goals.
  3. Collaborate with international partners and industry to access and influence the best thinking and innovation to address national security problems.
  4. Oversee the coordination of science and technology research and development programs across the community.
  5. Sponsor innovation and engagement with the National Security Strategic Investment Fund.
  6. Represent MI5 in various government fora and engage with the Government Chief Scientific Adviser and the Chief Scientific Advisers network.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a senior scientific or technical role.
  • Strong understanding of national security science and technology.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
