Job Overview

The primary objective is to ensure SAFE, PERSONAL, and EFFECTIVE patient care on a daily basis.

As a specialist in nursing care, you will oversee the entire patient journey from admission to discharge, facilitating the advancement of clinical practices.

You will offer both clinical and managerial guidance to nursing and support personnel, ensuring the delivery of evidence-based, patient-centered care of the highest quality.

Your responsibilities include ensuring compliance with Trust policies and procedures in all aspects of care delivery.

Through clinical audits, research, supervision, and education, you will monitor and enhance care standards while utilizing resources efficiently and effectively.

The Orthopaedic Trauma Care Coordinator will manage the care of all emergency patients and admissions in line with established local guidelines, optimizing the use of orthopaedic beds and theatre lists to provide a comprehensive, high-quality Orthopaedic Trauma Team Service.

You will ensure that all patients adhere to the appropriate orthopaedic trauma pathways.

Effective management of theatre lists while collaborating with the wider multidisciplinary team is essential.

Maintaining clear communication between theatres, the emergency department, fracture clinic, and other external agencies is a critical aspect of this role.

An active and valid registration with the NMC is required for the Trauma Coordinator.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with spinal patients, including log rolling and support with moving and handling. Prepare for Trauma meetings and ward rounds. Oversee the daily operations of the Trauma office. Regularly monitor the Orthopaedic Trauma mail inbox, addressing correspondence with support from the Trauma team. Conduct clerical tasks related to patient admissions, transfers, and fracture clinic appointments, including liaising with patients/carers regarding follow-up arrangements and producing appointment letters. Maintain the Patient Administration System (PAS) and Electronic Patient Transfer System (EPTS) to ensure they are current and accurate. Communicate effectively with patients, wards, and departments via telephone, face-to-face, and electronically to manage trauma patients efficiently. Ensure completion of all Trauma & Orthopaedic databases/audits for patients. Consult and communicate with other departments both within and outside the Trust. Organize initial assessments or follow-up appointments for patients as directed by the Trauma team, ensuring documentation is accurately maintained in medical notes. Manage junior staff, including appraisals and HR-related issues. Provide training on the ward and deliver trauma training programs to relevant staff.
