GENERAL OVERVIEW

The individual in this position will be an integral part of our Global Advanced Procurement/Buyout team, reporting directly to the Global Category Manager. The Category Specialist role is designed to enhance the existing collaboration between Customer Service, the Tendering Team, and Advanced Procurement to drive sales. The effectiveness of this role will significantly impact the Company's external partnerships, making it essential to seize opportunities.

The Advanced Procurement team is tasked with identifying major projects alongside Tendering Team Managers to secure market-level pricing on buyout and key pump components, including Electric Motors, Mechanical Seals & Systems, Lube Oil Systems, and Gear Boxes. Additionally, the team will assess supplier performance (KPI) as the Category expert for primary buyouts. A background in engineering and technical expertise in pump applications and electric motor selection for hazardous installations is essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Support Global tendering teams across primary buyouts to ensure timely and high-quality quotations from inquiry receipt to order entry.Develop and submit comprehensive lower-risk proposal selections, ensuring timely delivery in alignment with the ITO (Inquiry to Order) Tendering Policy & Procedure.Analyze and assess technical specifications for pump equipment to devise a process solution that meets customer requirements, conduct risk evaluations, extract relevant client needs, and effectively communicate specifications to subcontractors, sub-vendors, and internal teams.Acquire quotations for pertinent bought-in equipment in accordance with the latest Global Supply Chain standards.Collaborate with the commercial team regarding customer needs, scope, and timelines.Ensure the accuracy and completeness of both CPQ tender data and the BTC Quote log, actively managing them.Contribute as a team member to support the Global Tendering Team in achieving supplier KPIs and metrics.Develop technical supplier selections in support of projects and market needs.Maintain and disseminate knowledge regarding filtration products and procurement.Utilize product knowledge to identify technical solutions that fulfill customer requirements.Facilitate Buyout Order Handover to ensure alignment from proposal to purchase order.Continuously develop or enhance internal workflows or processes as a daily responsibility.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Exceptional communication skills to unify tasks and strategies (both internal and external).Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications – Excel, Word, PowerPoint is essential.Technical aptitude to learn and comprehend proprietary sizing and selection software.Organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.Strong time management skills, capable of setting and meeting deadlines and objectives.Understanding of engineering principles relevant to the designated business unit, particularly concerning our API Pump product line.Ability to read, interpret, and accurately respond to technical specifications related to buyout costs and designs.Capability to effectively present information and address inquiries from internal personnel.Recognizes ownership and accountability for assignments.A collaborative team player with the ability to engage with various functions - Operations, Finance, Engineering, Projects, Sales.Strong capacity to learn product capabilities and limitations.Familiarity with engineering principles related to pump processes and mechanical design of pressure vessels.Knowledge of industry engineering standards and product capabilities.Ability to manage detailed documentation and strive for accuracy.Awareness of market sectors and products served by our offerings.Strong interpersonal skills.Creative and independent thinker.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

B.E in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering.8-12 years of relevant industry experience in buyout components of API pumps, with 4-5 years of recent experience in advanced procurement within the pump industry preferred. Experience with Tendering/Proposal teams is essential.Experience in reviewing detailed specifications and crafting comprehensive and accurate bids/costs.Excellent communication and negotiation skills are mandatory.Experience working with global suppliers and internal global tendering teams is required.Familiarity with SAP is necessary.Able to travel (domestic and international – 30%).
