About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team at Construction Resources. As a key member of our Commercial, Estimating and Buying team, you will play a crucial role in delivering cost control and financial reporting duties across all aspects of construction work undertaken by the company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cost Control and Financial Reporting: Deliver a range of cost control and financial reporting duties, including analysis of quotations, preparation of tender lists, and updating of procurement programmes.
  • Contract Administration: Check all contract drawings to identify errors, omissions, and areas where unnecessary cost may arise. Prepare construction cost analysis, including analysis of quotations and requesting additional information as required.
  • Site Management: Assess site staffing levels and build programmes with the Construction Director to ascertain preliminary costs. Arrange and adjudicate budget settlement meetings, with the support of the wider Commercial team.
  • Subcontractor Management: Place subcontractor orders, including interviews and checking references on selected subcontractors. Negotiate the contract sum within the budget, including finalising costs to cover all late variations.
  • Cost Advice and Analysis: Provide a full range of pricing information for purchaser's extras, check all costs posted to each contract, and collate and reconcile all costs resulting from subcontract works, variation orders, site instructions, material orders, and preliminary/running costs.
Requirements
  • Experience: Proven experience in quantity surveying and knowledge of all areas of construction techniques and mixed-tenure schemes.
  • Skills: High level of mathematical ability and problem-solving skills, with a methodical and logical approach to work. Proficient use of Microsoft Excel is essential for the role.
  • Education: Relevant qualifications in quantity surveying or a related field.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a wider team.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
