Job Title: Head of Commercial Property Department

Themis Recruit is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Head of Commercial Property Department to lead and expand a thriving commercial property department. The firm is a Top Tier firm recognized in the Legal500. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in commercial property law with a proven track record of managing complex transactions and leading a successful team.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Leadership and Management:
    • Provide strategic leadership to the Commercial Property Department, setting and achieving departmental goals.
    • Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of solicitors, paralegals, and support staff.
    • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the department.
  2. Client Relationship Management:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, providing high-quality legal advice and support.
    • Act as the primary point of contact for major clients, ensuring client satisfaction and retention.
    • Handle complex and high-value commercial property transactions, including acquisitions, disposals, leases, and developments.
  3. Business Development:
    • Develop and implement strategies to grow the commercial property practice.
    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including cross-selling other services of the firm.
    • Represent the firm at networking events, conferences, and industry functions to enhance the firm's profile and generate new business leads.
  4. Legal Expertise and Practice Management:
    • Provide expert legal advice on all aspects of commercial property law, including planning, environmental issues, landlord and tenant matters, and property finance.
    • Ensure all work is carried out to the highest standards of accuracy and professionalism.
    • Stay abreast of changes in legislation and practice, ensuring compliance and advising clients accordingly.
  5. Financial Management:
    • Manage the department's budget, including forecasting, monitoring, and reporting on financial performance.
    • Drive profitability by improving operational efficiencies and ensuring optimal fee generation.
    • Oversee billing processes and manage credit control within the department.
  6. Compliance and Risk Management:
    • Ensure the department complies with all regulatory and legal requirements.
    • Implement and maintain robust risk management practices.
    • Handle any complaints or issues promptly and effectively, maintaining the firm's reputation.
Requirements:
  • Education: Qualified Solicitor with a current practicing certificate.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years PQE in commercial property law, with significant experience in managing complex transactions and leading teams.
  • Skills: Exceptional leadership and management skills, strong client relationship management and business development abilities, in-depth knowledge of commercial property law and related regulatory frameworks, excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, superior written and verbal communication skills, high level of attention to detail and accuracy, ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
