Job Summary
This role involves overseeing a diverse range of capital construction projects, from initial feasibility studies through procurement and onto completion on site, including the necessary defect periods. Projects typically span various value ranges, from smaller works at £10k to larger schemes reaching up to £1m. You may also be called upon to support senior project managers with aspects of work within the hospital redevelopment master plan, encompassing phases exceeding £100m in value.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Head of Department to effectively manage the designated investment schemes across Trust sites, ensuring seamless project execution and communication between developments, operational management, and major capital investment projects. This involves regular interaction with architects, quantity surveyors, mechanical and electrical consultants, structural and civil engineers, principal contractors, subcontractors, and specialist contractors.
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the Trust in relation to all aspects of capital development, ensuring alignment with the needs of the population served.
- Play a vital role in managing the Trust's Estate portfolio in accordance with the Trust's Estate Strategy, overseeing the effective capital programme management.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Possess a University Degree or Higher-Level Diploma/Certificate in a Construction discipline.
- Demonstrate extensive experience in estates/construction project management.
- Exhibit a strong understanding of the procurement and management of capital construction schemes from inception to completion.
- Be conversant with construction contracts such as JCT and NEC.
- Possess knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Experience working within an NHS environment.
- Professional chartered membership of RICS or CIOB.
