Job Description

**About the Role**

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Assistant Merchandiser to join our team at Liberty. As a key member of our Merchandising department, you will play a critical role in driving business growth and profitability through effective forecasting and planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Forecasting and Planning: Develop and maintain accurate forecasts to inform budgeting decisions and drive business growth.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams to agree and plan financial building blocks in line with product, channel, and customer strategy.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Present seasonal lessons learned and draw out key actionable insights to drive profit for the business.
  • Category and Range Planning: Develop detailed category, range, and option plans to support commercial buys relevant to the target customer.
  • WSSI Forecasting: Maintain an accurate WSSI forecast in line with current trade and future events, driving action through relevant risk and opportunity analysis.
  • Capex Modelling and Space Planning: Support the Merchandising Director in capex modelling and space planning.
  • Trading and Risk Management: Identify key areas of risk and opportunity using internal and external resources, and lead trade meetings to challenge and drive performance to optimize sales and stock position.
  • Stock Management: Responsible for stock across continuity and seasonal, demonstrating proven results in improving merchandising KPIs.
  • Seasonal Continuity Stock Review: Carry out a seasonal continuity stock review using Pareto analysis to tackle aged and inefficient stock levels.
  • Key Stock Metric Targets: Set, measure, and achieve key stock metric targets, including never out of stock targets, Pareto analysis, aged stock, availability targets, ISNOS, cover, and lost sales.
  • Markdown and Promotions: Own markdown and promotions in line with business strategy, using analysis to dictate markdown depth strategy to maximize margin and sell-through.
  • Data and Tools: Identify training needs, conduct impactful training sessions on systems and tools, and use data to identify and communicate relevant and accurate business information.
  • Performance Management: Carry out regular performance reviews and objective setting meetings, tackling poor performance head-on.
  • Team Development: Actively recruit high-quality team members and deliver a 360-degree induction plan to ensure new team members are properly onboarded within their probation period.

  • Proven experience in merchandising and forecasting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of the retail industry.
