Quantity Surveyor Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor to join our team at Samuel James Recruitment Ltd. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in managing subcontractor packages and collaborating with the project team in the procurement of shell and core works.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Produce accurate estimates, budgets, and forecasts to ensure effective cost control measures are in place.
  • Monitor site performance against original plans, budgets, and financial targets to ensure key milestones are met.
  • Provide detailed cost reports and updates within deadlines, regularly communicating with internal teams such as Sales, Land, Construction, and Technical Architects.
  • Take full ownership of surveying responsibilities on your developments, while supporting the wider Commercial team regarding financial status and profitability.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in a similar role within the housebuilding industry.
  • Minimum HNC in Building Studies; RICS qualifications or a degree in Quantity Surveying is preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with land appraisal software such as 'Site stream' or similar.
  • Familiarity with current standards and building regulations, with excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • A self-motivated, proactive individual with strong attention to detail.
