At Expedia Group, our Data Science Engineering team thrives on this challenge. We collaborate closely with Data Scientists to leverage AI/ML technologies, transforming Expedia's vast data resources into intelligent, real-time analytics that empower various applications used by market managers, analysts, supply partners, and travelers alike.

Our projects encompass diverse datasets, ML models, and cutting-edge technologies such as Spark, Sagemaker, Airflow, Databricks, Kubernetes, and AWS.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Data Science engineers and experts to develop and implement large-scale batch and real-time data processing pipelines.
  • Rapidly prototype innovative solutions through the development of minimum viable products, contributing to the team's technical vision alongside senior colleagues.
  • Engage with geographically dispersed cross-functional teams to ensure effective communication and cooperation.
  • Conduct code reviews to evaluate code quality and scalability.
  • Address and overcome challenges collaboratively with team members, offering guidance to less experienced engineers, and ensuring timely resolutions.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation and artifacts.
  • Drive continuous improvement within an agile development environment.
  • Contribute to user story creation in alignment with the team's objectives.
  • Provide support in diagnosing and resolving data or system issues when necessary.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Python and Scala (or Java) programming languages.
  • Familiarity with Big Data technologies, particularly Hadoop, Hive, and Spark.
  • Experience in developing real-time applications, with a preference for expertise in Spark.
  • Strong understanding of machine learning pipelines and frameworks like TensorFlow and Pytorch.
  • Knowledge of cloud services such as AWS and workflow orchestration tools like Airflow.
  • Hands-on experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Understanding of e-commerce or travel industry concepts is a plus.
