You will oversee the educational journey of students, fostering the development of essential skills that promote independence and prepare them for future employment or higher education. This includes safeguarding responsibilities, tracking student progress, guiding them in utilizing college services, and delivering high-quality educational experiences to maximize each student's potential.

Key ResponsibilitiesThe following outlines the primary responsibilities associated with this role, as directed by your supervisor:
  1. Instruct and advocate for the skills necessary for students to transition into employment or higher education, facilitating personal and academic growth through structured target-setting in individual tutorials using digital resources.
  2. Collaborate with the safeguarding team, conducting one-on-one meetings with students in your designated areas, addressing welfare and safeguarding concerns, maintaining accurate records, and referring cases to appropriate internal support services.
  3. Monitor and support students' academic performance and development of soft skills, assisting with university applications as needed, while maintaining an overview of attendance, assignment submissions, and other factors impacting student success.
  4. Provide a platform for academic discourse, encouraging student involvement in volunteering, civic engagement, and participation in the Student Voice initiative.
  5. Guide students in understanding the college environment, ensuring they are informed about available support services, including career advice, financial assistance, and welfare resources.
  6. Utilize relevant technologies for instructional delivery, assess student performance, and provide constructive feedback, acting as a resource for additional individual support, while continuously enhancing tutorials to meet student needs.
  7. Maintain effective communication with students, college personnel, and parents/guardians through various channels.

Engage and collaborate with internal departments, including Heads of Departments and relevant staff, and participate in college promotional activities such as open days and community events.

Qualifications and Skills

The successful candidate will possess a minimum Level 3 academic or vocational qualification and at least five GCSEs, including English and Mathematics.

Experience in teaching or working with diverse student populations, familiarity with addressing student welfare needs, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications are essential.
