Fleet Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fleet Support Specialist to join our Transport Services Team at Wakefield Council. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our fleet of vehicles and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide a Fleet Support service to minimize Fleet downtime, involving the collection and delivery of a wide range of vehicles and equipment.
- Drive all classes of vehicle for which you are licensed, providing handover familiarization on vehicles and plant, and their refueling (charging) infrastructure to council employees.
- Support Mechanics with day-to-day Fleet maintenance, carrying out general laboring and caretaking duties.
- Work in the vehicle maintenance stores, collecting parts, and responsible for the correct processing of goods/parts and associated receipts and invoices/petty cash.
- Provide cover to other Council Service areas in response to changes in workload and operational requirements.
- Minimum Category C LGV Licence, with ability to work towards: Driver CPC, Cat D1 Minibus Licence, and LGV C+E (Restricted).
- Well-developed knowledge of modern vehicles, plant, and horticultural machinery, with ability to follow and understand risk assessments.
- Significant experience in driving Large Goods Vehicles, with some experience in driving a wide range of vehicle and body types.
- Ability to use relevant tools and equipment, and demonstrate competence in the driving of a mixed fleet of vehicles and plant, including highway theory.
