Lead Product Governance Specialist

We are excited to present a remarkable opportunity for a seasoned product governance specialist to become a vital part of our innovative and expanding organization.
This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, requiring the successful candidate to be present in the office two days a week.
Reporting directly to the chairperson of the Product Governance committee, who holds SMCR accountability for this sector, you will cultivate professional relationships and collaborate closely with Senior Management and other essential stakeholders. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that the various product lines adhere to effective processes aligned with the firm's consumer duty obligations, including understanding and applying regulatory expectations related to product governance on a first-line basis.
Your role will involve supporting the business in evaluating proposed new products, which require approval from the Product Governance Committee. You will also play a key role in embedding product governance principles and practices within the organization, assisting in the creation and delivery of relevant process training, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring that key stakeholders receive the necessary assurance that consumer duty activities are conducted as required.
Additionally, you will be responsible for keeping the Product Governance risk profile forms current and for gathering detailed data by proactively sourcing information from various channels as needed.
- Serve as the recognizable representative of product governance within operational departments, managing the data collection process and collaborating with team members to address their product governance needs across departments, products, and stakeholders.
- Generate precise data that supports conduct risk management information and provides essential insights to the Product Governance Committee.
- Identify and execute initiatives or projects aimed at conducting research, reviewing, and considering more effective controls.
- Design and implement internal policies and procedures to enhance product governance throughout the organization.
- Review all existing policies and procedures related to Product Governance and update them as necessary.
- Assist in monitoring product-related risks to the organization.
- Evaluate and provide feedback on new products and modifications to existing products in relation to the Product Governance framework.
- Track recommendations from the Product Governance Committee to ensure that actions are completed.
- Foster strong and effective relationships across the organization to promote a positive perception of Product Governance and efficiently support and deliver work activities.
- Stay informed about regulatory developments and assist the business in assessing impacts and enhancing controls as needed.
- Support our governance framework by identifying, reporting, and escalating relevant data to maintain robust oversight of the organization's priorities, risks, and issues.
- Challenge departments on their Product Governance practices, ensuring they receive the necessary support and effectively assess Management Information to make informed decisions on required improvements.
- Assist in developing our approach to FVAs, Product Reviews/Approvals, Distribution Impact Assessments, and other related activities as directed by Senior Management and in accordance with any additional guidance.
- Proven track record of establishing strong and constructive relationships with senior management.
- Commercial awareness and focus on the application of regulation within the insurance broking sector.
- Experience working within the compliance department of a company in the UK regulatory landscape (preferred).
