Position Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen at our Imerys Aluminates facility, known for producing fused and sintered calcium aluminate binders, which are highly regarded for their exceptional heat resistance and durability. This 5-hectare site caters to various industries, including construction, wastewater management, refractories, metallurgy, and mining, offering benchmark products.

Your primary responsibility will be to oversee, maintain, and enhance electrical and automation systems at the Imerys Aluminates production site.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Act as the Site Electrical Duty Holder.
  • Manage and execute electrical, automation, and instrumentation tasks, including inspections, audits, calibrations, spare parts management, documentation, risk assessments, and both reactive and preventive maintenance.
  • Operate, manage, and maintain Siemens automation systems (PLCs/ PCS7/ SCADA/ WinCC/ S7-300/ HMIs), including troubleshooting, programming, and updates.
  • Ensure compliance with ECI regulations and manage statutory activities (e.g., fixed wire testing, high voltage maintenance, earthing tests, PAT, arc flash testing).
  • Oversee high voltage (HV) networks and drives.
  • Manage ECI projects, including design, specifications, documentation, contract management, installation, commissioning, spare parts, and training.
  • Adhere to health and safety standards, ensuring all ECI activities comply with regulations and company policies.
  • Participate in the training and development of other industrial engineers.
  • Provide technical support during equipment failures, including after-hours consultations.

This position may require working at heights and in confined spaces.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of industrial electrical, control, and instrumentation systems, including valves, sensors, probes, and control circuits, along with proven fault-finding, diagnostic, and problem-solving abilities.

Additionally, you should:

  • Hold a degree in Electrical, Electronic, Control, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
  • Have prior experience in a similar role within a heavy production, manufacturing, or process environment.
  • Be proficient in programming, editing, and troubleshooting Siemens systems (PCS7), SCADA systems (WinCC), and communication networks such as Profibus and Profinet.
  • Possess a strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and process systems.
  • Be skilled in using AutoCAD and Trimble.
  • Hold a Health and Safety NEBOSH or IOSH Certification.
  • Be willing to respond to after-hours breakdowns.
  • Have a valid UK driving license.
