Lead Electrical and Automation Engineer

Location: Imerys Aluminates

Work Schedule: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Note: Availability for out-of-hours support is required.

An exciting opportunity has arisen at our facility, known for producing high-performance calcium aluminate binders, which are essential in various industries including construction and wastewater management.

Your primary role will involve overseeing, maintaining, and enhancing electrical and automation systems at our production site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the Site Electrical Duty Holder.
  • Manage and execute tasks related to electrical, automation, and instrumentation, including inspections, audits, calibrations, and maintenance.
  • Oversee Siemens automation systems (PLCs/ PCS7/ SCADA/ WinCC/ S7-300/ HMIs), focusing on troubleshooting, programming, and updates.
  • Ensure compliance with ECI regulations and manage statutory activities such as fixed wire testing and high voltage maintenance.
  • Handle high voltage networks and drives.
  • Lead ECI projects from design to implementation, including documentation and training.
  • Maintain adherence to Health & Safety standards in all ECI activities.
  • Contribute to the training and development of junior engineers.
  • Provide technical support during equipment failures outside regular hours.

This position may require working at heights and in confined spaces.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will possess a robust understanding of industrial electrical, control, and instrumentation systems, with demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting and problem-solving.

Essential qualifications include:

  • A degree in Electrical, Electronic, Control, or Automation Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in a similar role within a heavy manufacturing or processing environment.
  • Proficiency in programming and troubleshooting Siemens systems (PCS7), SCADA systems (WinCC), and communication networks like Profibus and Profinet.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and process systems.
  • Ability to utilize AutoCAD and Trimble software.
  • Health and Safety NEBOSH or IOSH certification.
  • Willingness to respond to after-hours emergencies.
  • Valid UK driving license.
