Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the finance manager and team to achieve:

  • Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, reporting, year-end accounts, and audit documentation.
  • Payroll Management: Support payroll preparation and timesheet collection.
  • VAT Compliance: Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Contribute to budget reports, financial planning, and related financial processes.
  • Project Financial Analysis: Aid in project cost assessments and funding applications.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct cost analysis.
  • Administrative Support: Assist the team with customer payments, inquiries, and purchase ledger during peak times.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to all financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills:

Essential:

  • AAT qualified or equivalent, or actively pursuing a professional accounting qualification (e.g., ICAS, ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA).
  • Demonstrated experience in a financial assistant role or similar financial support position.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Ability to learn quickly and manage personal organization effectively, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, facilitating effective communication across teams and with diverse individuals.
  • High level of accuracy in all tasks, with exceptional attention to detail, written communication, and numerical skills.
  • Proactive problem-solving abilities and sound decision-making skills.
  • Capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Outstanding customer service skills, with a proven track record of positive engagement with colleagues and external contacts.
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information responsibly.
  • Commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with SAGE accounting software.
  • Familiarity with budgeting and project evaluation.
