Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Team Lead Scalable Systems Administrator to join our team at QinetiQ. As a Team Lead, you will be responsible for leading a team of IT professionals and providing technical expertise in the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable systems and high-performance computing environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of IT professionals and provide technical guidance and support.
  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable systems and high-performance computing environments.
  • Configure and optimize Linux-based HPC environments for maximum performance and reliability.
  • Implement security best practices to safeguard both HPC systems and data.
  • Monitor system performance and resource utilization proactively identifying and addressing any potential issues.
  • Work as an experienced IT Engineer improving business delivery performing a variety of project, bid, investment tasks and lifecycle planning.
  • Deploy and maintain high-performance computing capabilities to support engineering delivery.
  • Mentor and upskill junior team members providing redundancy in skills and career development.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience with Virtual desktop environments, High-performance computing environments with a strong understanding of Linux operating and administration systems.
  • Proven experience with Low Latency or RDMA network technologies and Linux scripting languages in HPC environments.
  • The ability to lead a team whilst implement decisions and strategies conveying technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • A good understanding of common HPC programming languages to a level to suitably assist in debugging code issues.
  • Familiarity with VMware, Hyper-V, Citrix or other virtualised desktop systems.

Qualifications:

  • A Technical Degree (Computer Science, Maths, Engineering or equivalent field) or relevant technical experience.
