Clinical Scientist and Medical Physics Expert

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Clinical Scientist and Medical Physics Expert to join our Radiation Protection team at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive radiation protection, diagnostic radiology physics, and X-ray services. This will include conducting patient and staff dosimetry audits, providing QA instrument calibration services, delivering staff training, and advising on the application of relevant legislation and developing processes and procedures to ensure good compliance.
The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of radiation and associated areas within Medical Physics, as well as expert and specialist knowledge of legislation, approved codes, and good guidance applicable to the use of ionising and non-ionising radiations.
We are looking for a candidate who is state registered as a Clinical Scientist, accredited as a Medical Physics Expert with RPA2000, and holds a full driving license.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing comprehensive radiation protection services
- Conducting patient and staff dosimetry audits
- Providing QA instrument calibration services
- Delivering staff training
- Advising on the application of relevant legislation and developing processes and procedures to ensure good compliance

Person SpecificationThe ideal candidate will have:
- A good Honours degree in a relevant subject
- MSc and PhD in radiation protection, medical physics (or equivalent)
- IPEM Certificate of completion of Post-qualification Higher Training or equivalent
- State registration as a Clinical Scientist
- Accreditation as Medical Physics Expert with RPA2000
The ideal candidate will also have:
- RPA 2000 accreditation as a Radiation Protection Adviser (RPA)
