Street Cleansing Operative

Maidstone Borough Council is seeking a skilled and reliable individual to join their team as a Street Screen Operative. As a key member of the Street Scene team, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the borough.
Main Responsibilities:- Operate a variety of street cleansing vehicles, including refuse collection trucks and street sweepers, to collect and dispose of waste and debris.
- Clear fly tipping, flyposting, dead animals, and other responsive requests in a timely and efficient manner.
- Report and remove fly tipping, flyposting, and dead animals identified during the completion of duties.
- Participate in weekend cleansing priorities, including the cleansing of the town centre and removal of fly tipping across the borough.
- Report cleansing standards before and after work carried out.
- Report graffiti identified during the completion of duties.
- Collaborate with the Environmental Enforcement Team to ensure evidence is captured and intelligence is shared.
- Report any accidents and near-misses that occur during the working day.
- Conduct Health and Safety checks on vehicles and dynamic risk assessments of work to be carried out.
- Report any vehicle defects to the supervisor and in the defect book.
- Complete drivers' working hours logbook.
- Commitment to the Council's Strategic Plan.
- Willingness to undertake any training and development as required.
- Compliance with the Council's Equal Opportunity Policy.
- Compliance with the Council's Health and Safety at Work Policy.
- Assistance as required in the Council's Emergency Plan.
- Compliance with the Council's IT Security Policy.
- Undertaking other duties commensurate with the grade of the post.
