Medical Oncologist Specialist

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Oncologist Consultant to join our team at Northampton General Hospital. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, leading clinical teams, and contributing to the development of our oncology services.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake clinical and managerial responsibility for the agreed oncology specialties and patients, including liaison with consultant colleagues, department teams, and general practitioners.
- Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in your charge, in liaison with consultant colleagues, and for the proper functioning of the department in line with the Operational Policy and Strategic Plan.
- Attend and participate in the management of patients through the specific MDT, maintaining national standards and participating in Peer Review.
- Undertake research and show commitment to entering patients into clinical trials.
- Share responsibility for the clinical standards of the oncology service, including liaison with other members of the multidisciplinary team and the Centre.
- Show responsibility for professional standards within oncology and ensure compliance with the standards required to satisfy national standards and the local quality system.
- Work as part of the Multidisciplinary Team in the Directorate.
- Attend national, network, and local meetings as appropriate, including ECAGs.
- Demonstrate a firm commitment to clinical governance, including participation in effective clinical audit and continuing medical education.
- Cooperate with local management in the efficient running of services and contribute to management within the Trust through the Directorate.
- Participate in all teaching programs for medical staff, medical students, and other hospital employees as required.
- Take part in the Centre's on-call rota.
- Comply with departmental and Trust policies and procedures.
