Financial Accountant Assistant

Grafton Banks Finance is seeking a highly skilled Assistant Financial Accountant to join their team on a full-time permanent basis. The successful candidate will work in a small, friendly, and busy finance function, with a hybrid working arrangement of 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process sales ledger invoices and reconcile payments to maintain a clean sales ledger.
- Import bank statements into the accounting system daily and perform bank reconciliations.
- Process purchase ledger invoices, check back to purchase orders, and prepare weekly payment runs for suppliers.
- Set up bank transactions, such as transfers and payments, for expense claims and one-off purchases.
- Support the Management Accountant in month-end processes, including journal preparation, intercompany postings, and reconciliation of control accounts.
- Ensure accuracy of accounts payable, including invoice processing, supplier statement reconciliations, and preparation of supplier pay runs.
- Assist with Accounts Receivable cash postings, allocations, refunds, reconciliations, and answering sales-related queries.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of invoices matched to purchase orders in the purchasing system.
- Prepare revenue reports and assist with process and control improvement and ad-hoc projects.
- Assist with the Accounting Team email group and prepare the month-end accounts.
- Post journals, manage year-end audit files, and perform bank postings and reconciliations.
- Perform ad-hoc duties as required.
Requirements:
- At least 1-2 years of proven practical experience within finance.
- Comfortable working with a range of software, including Excel.
- Good time management, able to work well in a team and sole charge, and manage tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills to work with finance and non-finance professionals.
