In this pivotal position, you will provide senior leadership across multiple sites, ensuring the delivery of high-quality clinical pharmacy services tailored to the Surgical Division.

This role is primarily based at a leading hospital within the Trust, known for its comprehensive surgical services and the upcoming launch of a state-of-the-art Orthopaedic Centre. You will leverage your clinical expertise to shape this role in alignment with the department's strategic vision.

As we transition to the EPIC electronic patient record system, which includes electronic prescribing and inventory management, your role will be crucial in supporting this initiative.

Our facilities include fully automated dispensaries and a specialist pharmacy service, contributing to a robust healthcare environment.

- Serve as the principal pharmacist for the Surgical Division, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to optimize medication use, reduce waste, and manage high-cost medications effectively.

- Deliver an advanced clinical pharmacy service in accordance with Trust standards, performance indicators, and regulatory requirements.

- Provide ongoing support, mentorship, and leadership to pharmacy staff, enhancing the clinical pharmacy service within the Surgical Division.

- Develop and implement clinical pharmacy strategies for the Surgical Division, ensuring consistent practices across all hospital sites.

- Oversee the development and management of clinical pharmacy services, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

- Play a key role in advancing the digital medicines agenda within the pharmacy department.

- Act as deputy for the Assistant Chief Pharmacist at the designated hospital site.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Significant post-registration experience with a focus on hospital pharmacy.
  • Diverse clinical pharmacy experience.
  • Proven experience in staff management and pharmacy team leadership.
  • Experience in conducting medication audits and service evaluations.
  • Background in providing and assessing pharmacy education and training.
  • Familiarity with developing and reviewing clinical guidelines and procedures.

Desirable

  • Experience working at a specialist or divisional level with responsibility for pharmacy services.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Master’s degree in Pharmacy or equivalent, along with completed pre-registration training.
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Postgraduate qualification in pharmacy practice.

Desirable

  • Prescriber status.
  • Completion of management or leadership training.
  • Membership in the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
  • Training in risk management.
