Position Overview:

The role of Principal Scientist at Cogito is pivotal in our Research and Development (R&D) efforts, which serve as the foundation for all design, material, and process advancements. This position is responsible for spearheading the development of both existing and future products, leveraging internal capabilities while collaborating with external suppliers, academic institutions, and industry partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and coordinate multiple project activities, acting as a crucial technical leader across various domains.
  • Collaborate closely with R&D team members to ensure a robust technical strategy is employed in progressing product development and research initiatives.
  • Lead a cross-functional team that includes members from R&D, Manufacturing, and Marketing, while effectively engaging with external organizations.
  • Conduct hands-on experimental work as necessary to support project goals.

Core Duties:

The Principal Scientist's primary responsibility is to conduct research, design, develop, synthesize, fabricate, and test innovative materials and processes for products. This includes:

  • Generating and nurturing new innovations and enhancing existing materials and processes.
  • Designing, planning, and executing experiments while supervising junior scientists.
  • Supporting the Chemistry team with equipment qualifications and regulatory compliance regarding hazardous waste management.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team, supervising junior members and interfacing with cross-functional teams.
  • Expertise in designing and implementing research strategies independently.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in data analysis and statistical techniques to ensure high-quality decision-making.
  • Commitment to health and safety standards, ensuring compliance in all activities.

Work Environment:

  • Work will be conducted in various settings, including offices, laboratories, and manufacturing areas.
  • Flexibility in working hours is essential to meet project deadlines.
  • Adherence to safety protocols is mandatory when handling hazardous materials.

Experience and Education:

  • A minimum of 3-8 years of relevant experience, depending on educational qualifications.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biological Sciences, or a related field is required, with advanced degrees preferred.
