Job Title: Income Officer

We are seeking an experienced Income Officer to join our team, responsible for maximizing our income through effective rent collection, service charge management, and other revenue streams. As an Income Officer, you will work closely with our residents, local authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure timely payment of rent and service charges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect and manage rent arrears, including service charges, parking, and other housing management-related debts.
  • Manage the Direct Debit process, including creation, amendment, and closure.
  • Liaise with local authorities and the Department of Work and Pensions regarding Housing Benefit and Universal Credit claims.
  • Chase progress of Housing Benefit and Universal Credit applications and overpayments where necessary.
  • Prepare paperwork for service of notices, possession proceedings, formal demands, County Court Judgments, and evictions.
  • Represent SW9 in rent and service charge-related cases at Court and First-Tier Tribunals.
Arrears Prevention:
  • Provide an excellent customer-focused service to residents, ensuring they are aware of their responsibility to pay rent and service charges on time.
  • Keep up-to-date with legislation regarding arrears collection and welfare benefit entitlements.
  • Advise residents on welfare benefits, debt counseling, and refer them to specialist advice.
  • Keep up-to-date with best practice on arrears prevention and suggest service improvements.
General:
  • Work in partnership with other customer-facing teams to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Process balance transfers and refunds as required.
  • Investigate and respond to complaints and informal comments about service delivery.
  • Be flexible with working hours to meet resident needs.
  • Attend evictions on behalf of SW9 and SNG as necessary.
