About the Role
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Commissioning Support Engineer to join our team at SSE PLC. As a key member of our Transmission Network team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and reliable delivery of transmission projects and customer connections onto our network.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Transmission Operations to deliver transmission projects and customer connections safely and efficiently.
- Accountable for the safety, health, and welfare of personnel and activities being managed, including compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Develop and deliver projects to technical and quality standards, identifying opportunities for business improvements.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders, including National Grid System Operator, developers, and other internal teams.
- Chair commissioning panel meetings, project safety reviews, and attend design, outage, and project assurance reviews.
Requirements
- Electrical engineering degree or relevant expertise, with a sound knowledge of electrical power systems and operating standards.
- Experience in the electricity transmission industry, with strong commissioning, engineering, and construction knowledge.
- Good understanding of industry codes of practice, outage planning, system planning, and other relevant processes.
- Good people management and leadership skills, with the ability to work alone or with a diverse team.
