Lead Learning Support Practitioner Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Learning Support Practitioner to join our team at Barking & Dagenham College. As a key member of our support services team, you will play a vital role in ensuring that students with additional learning needs receive the support they require to succeed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Learning Support Practitioners across a range of curriculum areas, providing guidance and expertise to ensure effective delivery of support services.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to develop and implement tailored support plans for students with SEND, ensuring that their needs are met and progress is monitored.
  • Provide targeted support to students with dyslexia and other learning difficulties, using specialist knowledge and skills to enhance their learning experience.
  • Lead EHCP annual reviews, working closely with students, parents, and external agencies to ensure comprehensive support and progress.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of support plans, ensuring that they are tailored to individual student needs and aligned with college policies and procedures.
  • Develop and deliver staff training to enhance support strategies and promote a culture of inclusivity and support within the college.
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure that students receive comprehensive support and that their needs are met.
Requirements
  • Experience and understanding of the issues related to Additional Learning Support, including dyslexia and other learning difficulties.
  • Ability to recognize additional needs indicators in students and to act promptly upon them.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of specialist support and how to maximize its impact to improve student retention and attainment.
  • Level 2 or 3 qualification in a relevant subject area.
  • Level 2 English or Maths (or equivalent).
  • SpLD qualification desirable.
